Midsummer Night's Dream

Design Assistant

My Role:

Working with Moving Stories Theatre Company in association with the Turbine Theatre London and Buxton Opera House. This production was brought to life a family-friendly, abridged version of Shakespeare’s best loved comedy. ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Creating a charm and vibrancy for audiences in the open air theatre.

Context & Vision :  "Join Titania, Oberon and Puck in the magic, mayhem and madness of their Fairy Kingdom. Watch our fated lovers navigate the trials and tribulations of ‘true love (which) never did run smooth’, and cheeky Puck who meddles with mischief. Blending music, fairy magic, a live choir, cracking actors and a double-dose of neon, get set for an exhilarating afternoon."- Moving Stories.

"Moving Stories ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ was my favourite thing all summer!” (audience member, Southbank Centre London)

Costume Assisting

I was set the tak of bringing costumes back to life for this revival production, which had been stages on he London SouthbanksRiverside Terrace in association with London’s South Bank Centre nine years previously in 2012. Using my skills in budgeting, sourcing in an unfamiliar city, planning, organization, maintenance, laundry, alterations, repairs and dressing. Task also included creating new costumes and props such as Titania's wings and adapting origional costumes for the new cast memebers.

Set Dressing

Working with the designer Kate Unwin, we set dressed the Buxton Pavilion Gardens with reused fake flowers to create a magical space and defined stage.

Using the elements of the set we created in Buxton, I transferred the design to the Turbin Theatre London Summertime stage. Set dressing the stage and lighting booms with the flowers.
